This was a fun party, excellent food, and lots of laughs and socializing with members of the Shuswap Women in Business.  Our luncheon was held at the Podollon Inn, Salmon Arm, BC, Canada.  The food was delicious – I had the salmon and spring salad with walnuts.  I should have taken a photo of it but forgot.  We will be holding our monthly meetings at the Podollon Inn now.  This Christmas Party brought together many talented business women in the Salmon Arm area, for fun and connecting, and creating memories.

How to Help Stop Stress and Anxiety With Deep Breathing

Air is essential to life.  Oxygen is one of the essentials of life.

From the moment we are born, taking in that first breath is imperative for us to continue.

Breath is more important than food, or even water.

We can live a time without either of those but we can only live a few minutes without oxygen.

Believe it or not, even though breathing is natural, there are ways to improve your breathing so that when you take in air, you are doing so in the most efficient way possible.

Take a few moments to watch how a baby or small child breathes. They breathe from their diaphragm, but as adults, due to stress and other issues we tend to breath more shallow and more rapidly.

Poor Breathing, Shallow Breathing when under Stress

This can increase our chances for hypertension, and other circulatory illnesses.

Improper and Poor breathing can:

  • increase stress levels
  • inhibit your ability to concentrate
  • cause body pain like lower back pain.
  • contribute to poor digestion
  • increase hypertension
  • increase circulatory problems

Knowing this, you can see how important it is to discover what proper breathing is like, and mindfully practice it, until it becomes second nature like it was when you were a child.

Yoga helps with Breathing, Reduces Stress and Anxiety

A really good way to practice breathing appropriately is to incorporate Yoga into your daily routine. Yoga is a breath centered, and core centered, exercise program that addresses the mental, physical and spiritual nature of humans. You will learn how to breath properly, and how to be present in your mind and body at any given moment during the day whether you’re working, exercising or are at rest. If you’re willing to spend just a few minutes daily doing breathing exercises you will see a huge difference in your overall health.

Rebounder Exercise to help with Deep Breathing and Reduce Stress

Another exercise that promotes good breathing is rebounding. Rebounding is not the same as jumping up and down on a trampoline, it is a very specific type of exercise that is easy on your joints, improves your posture, increases your energy, while also relaxing you. If you practice rebounding on a daily basis it will make you feel better about yourself because you’re going to have more oxygen in your blood stream which will generally promote a feeling of well-being. Select a rebounder that is right for you ensuring that it is truly a rebounder and not just a mini-trampoline for proper spine alignment and joint support.

I am loving being in the slower paced environment, small-town community, where I always meet many people I know when I go downtown shopping.

This summer I enjoyed all the wonderful Farmer’s Markets and organic fresh vegetables and fruits.  I am really appreciating the countryside, the lake – Shuswap Lake – and I feel more balanced and relaxed.

In my latest video that I just did, you can see the beautiful lake-view I have from my patio in Salmon Arm.  I feel very grateful.

Dolphins in Grand Cayman – Diana Walker Swimming with Dolphins My first experience of swimming with dolphins when I visited my son Jesse Walker in Grand Cayman. (Thanks, Jesse!!) Experience of a lifetime! Pure Bliss! It was almost timeless and I just loved the feeling of being with dolphins, they seem to give such love and fun. I learned a lot about how much care is provided to the dolphins with their own nutritionists and you could tell how much the staff at Dolphin Cove, Grand Cayman, cared about the dolphins. Photography by Diana Walker Vancouver I took amazing photos at Kitsilano Beach, in Vancouver, in the morning after a large snowfall (it doesn’t snow very much in Vancouver).  I took some morning photos from my window of the snow  Most of the snow melted by late afternoon.  Snowmen melted, but it was still cold enough that they remained in place in very strange sizes and positions, down at the beach.  Diana Walker Photography.  When I was walking up to the large “white being” on the bench, I did not realize it was a snowman from behind.  Then the little girl went up and put her arm around the snowman!  What incredible photos!

I love listening to drumming and music and rhythm… but have never had the courage to drum.   But Joan made it so fun and so easy, that I really got into the Drum Workshop and loved it.  So did everyone else, as you can see!

My sister Goldie Denise will be arranging Drum Workshops with Joan in Salmon Arm this winter.
