GOLDIE DENISE (Eckstadt) CALDWELL WILSON was born in Malakwa on January 23, 1958 and passed away in Salmon Arm on October 10, 2022 from the effects of bone cancer at the age of 64 years. The Eckstadt Family moved to Salmon Arm when she was only six months old.
She was predeceased by her father Emil Eckstadt, her sister Rhoda Eckstadt and her Mother Constance Denise Eckstadt. She is survived by her two daughters, Sabrina Ozpazarcik (Ibrahim) of Vancouver and Jasmine Caldwell of Salmon Arm, B.C., the love of her life, James Wilson (his son Matt Wilson and daughter Shannon Hodgson) and two sisters, Diana Walker and Roselyn (Keith) Phare, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; Jesse Walker, Gabriel Walker, Julie Phare Dubyna and Andrew Phare.
Goldie was a wonderful person and genuinely cared about others. She was compassionate and very generous. She lived by the saying “Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet” and extended her kind and loving ways to many. Goldie loved the great outdoors, travelling, drumming, walking, belly dancing, yoga, boating, swimming and generally embraced a very healthy lifestyle. Goldie also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She had a sense of humor and was very hospitable. She loved the beauty of the mountains and tranquil moments by Shuswap Lake at Sunnybrae.
Goldie was fierce, independent and steadfast in her approach to everything in Life. She balanced this in her unique way with a friendly, helpful, outgoing, compassionate spirit. Her presence was captivating. Cancer became evident about five years ago and her radiant light was very bright until very near her passing. To hear her voice and see her vibrant smile one would not have guessed anything was amiss.
Goldie lived her life on her own terms and treasured people and experiences over all else. She is missed here and now not only by family but by many others in the community and around the world. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be held in May of 2023.
May she rest peacefully evermore…
