Here is my newsletter sent out after Sunrider Convention 2004, which I know is very valuable information, when we are talking about Safety and Sunrider. Dr. Chen told us about the property and buildings he has purchased. It is four times bigger than the Sixth Avenue property, which we tour every Convention.

This is 850,000 square feet (40 acres) – most expensive industrial zone. “Beverly Hills” of the industrial properties. Surrounding are Fortune 500 properties. Most people are shocked that he is using that property as a manufacturing property. Usually would be for commercial use. Most people set up manufacturing somewhere else – outside of U.S. Even the Realtor is wondering what he is going to do with it. A light airplane could take off and land in the courtyard between the buildings. Note from Diana – we were taken on our bus tour to this property and were able to take photos. It is magnificent!

Dr. Chen said: “It’s true, I don’t need that building that big at this moment. It was a big decision. Every day I drive to the property and stand there. I ask myself “Where is the home? Sunrider is a North American company. I made the decision to keep this in the U.S.A. This will be our most advanced manufacturing plant.”

CHEN as DR. NO in 007, as “CHOPSTICK” and as “TOFU”

At one session, Dr. Chen was dressed in a black high-collared outfit, and joked about looking like Dr. No in 007. He joked about his blue hair, and how he is working on creating a natural herbal black hair dye, but his hands and hair ended up blue! Dr. Chen talked about his childhood and how his family did not have much money. His Grandpa gathered herbs from the field, dried them and prepared them. He boiled the herbs in 4 cups of water, boiling it down to 1 cup. It was a “nasty concoction”, but it helped Dr. Chen as he was a sickly child. He said “If the disease didn’t kill me, the herbs would!” Dr. Chen was called “Chopstick” – only one Chopstick! – because he was so thin. Later, he was called “Tofu”, because he was so soft and weak, like Tofu.

Dr. Chen said: “Since I was young, I just wanted to survive. I loved Spiderman, I loved Superman. I dreamed of a miracle pill that I can take to make me become like Superman. Actually, I just wished I could walk and run like normal kids. I studied herbs, not because I really liked it, but because I really NEEDED it. Regeneration became a dream for me.”

When I majored in Pharmacy, I noticed herbs, drugs, medications and the physical body are complicated. Why combinations of herbs? Why formulations? Our body is composed of all different organs. Every organ requires different nourishment. Combination and formulation become key ingredients in Health. When I turned 50, I had to get up so much in the night to go to the bathroom. I developed Men’s Formula for the prostrate. Only men need it.

As my age progresses, my study changes. My research is simple. First I design Bella. Do you know why I come out with Veros? Answer – “I’m getting old”! My wife complains I have so many white hair and I look so old, people may wonder if she is my daughter. She looks younger and younger every day. So I decided to catch up. I need more hair. I need darker hair. I need stronger bones. Notice how old men become shorter and shorter? I want to be Younger, have more Energy, more Strength, and I want to stand tall even in old age. The Best Ingredients

Sometimes, our customers and IBOs wonder if we use organic ingredients. Organic food is produced without using conventional pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. A government agency must inspect and certify the farm before the food can be labeled “organic.”
Our products primarily use herbs and plants that grow in the wild in their natural environment. I believe nature is the best “farmer”—man cannot successfully duplicate many of nature’s best creations. That’s why we use ingredients grown by nature rather than organic farms.

As a manufacturer of health foods, I am especially concerned about the environment. Because of pollution, many foods, even organic foods, may contain unacceptable levels of heavy metals. We monitor the heavy metal content of our herbs and often reject hundreds of pounds of herbs that do not meet our strict standards.

In addition to the heavy metal content, I also care about how our foods are handled. All herbs and plants, whether grown in the wild, in an organic farm, or in a traditional farm, have dirt, pests, and other contaminants. We take the extra steps of cleaning the herbs by hand and machine rather than grinding and/or irradiating the herbs along with their contaminants.

We also use a trade-secret manufacturing process to extract and concentrate the beneficial essences from our herbs. This makes the final product much more powerful and effective than just mixing the herbs on the ingredient listing.
